The Downtown Soup Kitchen is a non-profit 501(c)3 governed by a volunteer board of directors.  They partner with businesses, individuals, churches, civic organizations, and other non-profits in Anchorage, Alaska.

Their service is based on honesty, integrity, compassion, selfless servanthood, and commitment.

The purpose of the Downtown Soup Kitchen is to demonstrate God's heart for the hungry and homeless.  This is done by providing a full stomach and a hand up, meeting basic needs, and assisting people in moving forward.  Two key components are to introduce them to the life-changing power of Jesus Christ and utilizing the gifts, talents, and compassion of followers throughout our city - doing together what we cannot do alone.  This is accomplished by providing 90,000 meals annually, over 400 backpacks full of necessities, new socks, warm boots and coats, New Testaments, and rain ponchos.
